You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."
Matthew 5:14-15
In March 2016, a team of 12 Messiah College students, 2 Messiah College advisors, and 2 mentors will be traveling to Northern Ireland on an annual service-learning trip. This website will serve as a way to share our experience with friends and family, especially those who have contributed resources to our fundraising efforts.
Our Purpose, as a team representing Messiah College, is to continue the partnership created with the community of Lurgan, Northern Ireland and surrounding towns. To offer ourselves as servants, and humble ourselves to receive service and hospitality.
Northern Ireland is an area greatly divided by Protestant and Catholic sectarianism. Our responsibility as Messiah College students will be to model Christ's love and to encourage dialogue about reconciliation in relation to both cultures.
Specifically, the team will be working closely with Lurgan Junior High School, a local Christian ministry, and a local social enterprise company. We hope to be an encouragement and blessing, knowing that we will be blessed in return.
