Sitting at Marina’s kitchen table which is scattered with the remains of tea time that was enjoyed earlier this afternoon – empty tea cups, sugar on the table, Tayto crisps in the basket next to me, and I think about how peaceful it feels to be in Northern Ireland. Some of the team sits quietly in the sun room adjacent to the kitchen, while others enjoy some rest in the family room. Paul is patiently explaining the ins and outs of the sport rugby, as there seems to be an important match today (if Ireland wins against France, they’ll win the Six Nations Championship!). As the sun started setting, some of us took a little stroll to the end of the road, enjoying the endless green landscape and doing our best to avoid the cars that tend to sneak up from behind.
Our plane arrived safely in Belfast this morning, and so far we had time to meet our hosts, freshen up, take a nap, and have since gathered back at Marina and Paul’s house. Dinner is being prepared and we will soon have our first official meal as a team in Northern Ireland. Can you guess what’s cooking? That’s right, potatoes.
I can’t think of a better way to go about our first day in Northern Ireland, other than spending it with our lovely hosts and enjoying fellowship and great food together.
A simple start to a week that is certainly going to be class…
*Class, a term used in Northern Ireland to describe something that is awesome, wonderful, simply great…*
